Painting on Canvas
My paintings fall into two categories: landscape and still-life.
The landscapes are an emotional response to something seen or felt whilst out walking, driving or working in the garden. I am intrigued by the deep turmoil of a winter sky, the fragility of a plant skeleton, standing tall against an autumn shower or the majesty and beauty of a single oak tree under a leaden sky.
I use a muted palette which is reflected in my still lifes, where I concentrate on capturing the beauty and serenity of a simple natural form like a fig or a garlic bulb.
I use acrylic paint and work on both canvas and board.
